The dust-season calendar
Four seasons of dust, and what each one asks of us.
There's no measured schedule behind this. It's what we see on the roofs and the glass, year after year. Your street may differ.
Spring wind and pollen
Wind lifts desert dust and cottonwood fluff onto glass and panels. Mid-spring books up first, so ask for a date early.
Mar to May
Monsoon dust and sprinkler spray
Storm dust and sprinkler mist bake onto glass in the heat. Panels get the most sun now, so a clean one counts for more.
Jul to Sep
The fall reset
The right time to wash after summer and before the low winter sun. Glass first, then panels.
Oct to Nov
Winter streaks
A rare rain on dusty glass leaves streaks. Panels usually need less now, and we'll tell you when a visit can wait.
Dec to Feb
These months are typical for the valley, not promises. A windy week moves the season.
What you can do
Between visits
Look at your inverter app
A slow drop in a clear week is the usual sign dust is cutting output. A drop on a cloudy week is just clouds.
Turn the sprinklers
Sprinkler spray on glass is the main cause of hard-water rings. Aim heads away from windows and panels.
Skip the garden hose
Hose water is hard too, and a hot panel can be hurt by cold water. Leave panels to us or to a rain.
Questions
Questions about the calendar
Is spring really the busiest?
Mid-spring books first, because wind and pollen arrive together. Fall is easier to schedule.
Do I need a wash after every storm?
No. A monsoon storm leaves a film, but one wash after the season is usually plenty. We'll tell you if it can wait.
Can you set a standing visit?
Yes. Tell us spring and fall, and we'll text you two weeks before each date. You can skip any of them.
Want a date on the calendar?
Tell us when you'd like the visit and we'll text back what's open.
